South Dakota
Keegan went on his first road trip this last weekend. Both Matt and Keegan came with me to South Dakota for one of my work meetings and we were able to do some sightseeing on both ends of the trip. It was a lot of fun.
On our way out there we stopped a lot to stretch our legs.
We ate dinner at the Firehouse Brewery in downtown Rapid City. Keegan tried to order his own food, but we reminded him he doesn't have teeth yet.
Keegan went swimming for the very first time. At first he wasn't quite sure what to think about it ...
But then he decided it was ok.
We drove through Custer State Park and saw deer, antelope, elk and buffalo!
We took a tour of Jewel Cave. It is the second longest cave in the world, and it was incredible. It is a limestone cave that is covered, wall-to-wall, with unbelievable crystals in shapes that I have never heard of or seen before. Amazing!
On the way home we stopped at the Mammoth Site in Hot Springs, SD. I had been there a long time ago, and thought Matt would get a kick out of it. It was a sinkhole that over 55 mammoths fell into and their bones were preserved. It is really cool.
All-in-all Keegan was a trooper. By the end he was tired and could barely keep his eyes open.

Sleep
I am not getting my hopes up, but Keegan slept the whole night last night! He fell asleep around 9:00pm last night, and woke up at 5:30 this morning! Unfortunately, I didn't go right to sleep when he did and then I woke up around 3:00 not believing that he was still sleeping ... so I still didn't get a full nights sleep. But next time I know better!

Happy Mothers Day!
I have to say that my first Mothers Day was pretty special. First of all Keegan slept two 5 hour stints last night, only waking up at 1:00am for a feeding. It was really nice, and a little bit surreal. What woke me up at 6:30 was Keegan starting to fuss and some quiet clinking around in the kitchen. Matthew was making me breakfast!! That was the first time that I have been brought breakfast in bed. Church was great, and the messages about motherhood were wonderful. Keegan let both Matt and I take a 2 hour nap after church and then they both made me a wonderful dinner. Yummy pork chops, my favorite acorn squash and strawberry shortcake for dinner. What a wonderful day! Thank you to Keegan for making me a mother. Thanks you to Matthew for supporting me in my new role as a mother. And especially thank you to my mother for her wonderful example and the other mothers in my life who have taught me so much.
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

Just Darn Cute!
I am such a stereotypical first-time-mom. I just think that absolutely EVERYTHING that Keegan does is THE cutest thing ever! Here are two cute videos:
Right now he LOVES to just lay in his crib and giggle and coo at the animal mobile above his bed:
